Presentation:  Deep Shipwrecks of Lake Ontario

Jim Kennard will be presenting a trilogy of shipwreck discoveries.  Each of the shipwrecks in his presentation was discovered in the deep waters of Lake Ontario from 360 feet to nearly 700 feet.  One of these ships is a rare recently discovered “dagger-board” schooner, the only such ship of its type to have been found in the Great Lakes.  The foundering of one of other two ships, over 135 years ago, was found close to the deepest depth of Lake Ontario.

Discovery of HMS Ontario

A brief update and short video on one of the most significant discoveries, of the 229 year old HMS Ontario, the oldest shipwreck to have been discovered in the Great Lake and the only fully intact British warship from that period that is still in existence, including a short video of the shipwreck.
