On Halloween night in 1780 — during the heart of the American Revolution — a 22-gun British warship sailing across Lake Ontario hit a sudden and violent gale. The storm swallowed the ship, along with more than 120 people on board.
For the last 228 years, the HMS Ontario has sat on the bottom of the lake and at the top of the hopes of shipwreck hunters, who consider it a "Holy Grail."
