There were at least three ships called Bremen. They all sailed under the Norddeutscher Lloyd line. The main sailing route was from Bermen to New York. The first Bremen was commissioned in 1858 it sailed back and forth between these ports until a fire broke out at the pier in New York in 1874. The ship was considered a write off and the engines were removed. This might be the ship you were searching for. Hope that this points you in the right direction.
